A couple renovating their 18th Century farmhouse between Leeds and York contacted us. They needed a local contractor to design and create bespoke wooden windows and doors for their large-scale renovation project. They had already built a stunning extension on the farmhouse, opting for curved top windows and doors. We conducted a site visit, took measurements, and discussed their preferences. Collaboratively, we designed accoya wooden windows and doors that harmonized with the property’s historical character, while incorporating modern security systems and double glazing.
To ensure durability and low maintenance, we crafted the pieces from accoya timber. As an added touch, we included custom-designed sunburst patterns in the astragal bar features above the windows and French doors, creating a visually impressive result.
We provide colour matching for Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, and RAL paints. Our options include single and dual-colour paint choices, all of which come with a factory-applied, high-quality paint system.
The customer opted for a dual-color design, with RAL colour 7032 for the exterior and white for the interior to match their internal paintwork. The exterior paint in this stunning traditional shade complements the stone work beautifully. The bright and fresh white interior paint creates a captivating feature in their new kitchen.
In addition to our work on the windows, we also took on the task of designing elegant curve top wooden French doors for the front of the property. Our goal was to ensure that these doors seamlessly blended with the existing kitchen windows and doors. Given the prominence of the wooden sash windows on the front facade, it was crucial to meticulously design the French doors to harmonize with them. We paid meticulous attention to the design of the astragal bars, ensuring they matched the aesthetic and proportions of the sash windows. This attention to detail allowed us to create a cohesive and visually pleasing look, where the French doors seamlessly complemented the overall style and charm of the property’s frontage.
We also crafted a single entrance door for the property. To maintain consistency and quality, we once again utilized accoya timber and applied the same paint system and colours as the other wooden features. The ironmongery we selected for this door is satin stainless steel, aligning with the design choices made by the customer for their internal finishes. To enhance privacy, the customer opted for satin double glazing, offering an elegant yet practical solution. As with all our doors, we prioritized security by incorporating a multipoint locking system. Furthermore, this particular door features a tongue and groove bottom insulated panel, providing both durability and insulation benefits. Through careful attention to materials, finishes, and functional elements, we ensured that the entrance door not only contributed to the overall aesthetic of the property but also met the customer’s preferences for privacy, security, and thermal efficiency.
In conclusion, this project was a testament to our expertise in designing and manufacturing high-quality wooden windows, doors, and entrance systems. We successfully met the customer’s requirements by creating bespoke pieces that seamlessly blended with the 18th Century farmhouse character and architectural style. By utilising accoya timber, implementing modern security systems, and incorporating beautiful design elements such as curve top features and custom sunburst patterns, we achieved a remarkable result that not only enhanced the property’s aesthetics but also improved functionality and durability. The careful attention to detail, color matching, and adherence to the customer’s design preferences ensured a cohesive and visually pleasing outcome. We take pride in delivering products of exceptional quality, and this project exemplifies our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.
